Hydraulic multi-plate brake | Series 022

The 022 series is one of the most successful Ortlinghaus products. Well over one million units are in service around the world wherever safety brakes with an extremely long service life and quality without compromise are required. In mining equipment engineering, these multi-plate brakes are used in travel/drive brake and slew drive brake applications.

The advantage of these wet-running, hydraulically released and spring-applied multi-plate brakes is the high torques they achieve in compact dimensions.

Hydraulically actuated brakes are also available as a special version. The spring-loaded brakes are safety brakes, which automatically work in cases of pressure failure. The brakes can achieve full torque even when there is no pressure.

Hydraulic brake | Series 128

Hydraulically actuated clutches and brakes work exclusively with “wet-running” oil-cooled plates with the friction pairing steel/sintered lining. The advantages of actuation with pressure oil at 80 bar, the multi-plate construction type and the oil-cooled friction pairing steel/high-performance sinter result in an exceptionally compact design with high performance.

They feature high torques, low mass moments of inertia, high switch times and little maintenance. The separate design requires different shaft ends for installation, which makes it possible to use different clutch and brake sizes. Since they run in a sealed housing, no dirt is released into the environment.

The international safety regulations for press manufacture were taken into consideration for the design. The clutch-brake combinations have been recognized as safe by the German Employers’ Liability Insurance Association and type-tested by the Swedish Industrial Safety Authority.

Prot.act – Hydraulic brake | Series 170

With the 170 model series, Ortlinghaus has developed a hydraulically released and spring-loaded brake with dry-running friction elements specifically developed for servomotor-driven presses. The brake is normally used as a holding brake for stationary machines, but can also be used as a safety brake for emergency stops.

The brake is characterized by its minimal space requirements, low moment of inertia of the parts rotating with the drive motor, and short switching times. Designed as a multi-disc brake, it can transfer high torque. Thanks to its enclosed design, the brake also operates with low external pollution and minimal noise. It conforms to the European safety standard DIN EN 692 and is largely maintenance-free.

Due to the design format with friction pads, the axial mobility of the friction elements when operating the brake is possible without moving metallic contact points. Thanks to the dry-running principle, no undesired residual torque develops during normal operation of the press with the brake open.

Prot.act – Hydraulic brake | Series 171

With the Prot.act model series, Ortlinghaus has developed a hydraulically released and spring-loaded brake with dry-running friction elements specifically developed for servomotor-driven presses. The Prot.act flanges are exactly the same dimensions as the Siemens motor flanges, which allows a slim but compact and robust drivetrain combination.

Electromagnetically ventilated, spring-applied, dual-surface brake.
The electromagnetically released, spring applied, dual-surface brake is used in safety critical environments. The springs are wear-free and can therefore guarantee a secure functioning over the whole lifetime of the brake.

Free falling brake | Series 992

The Ortlinghaus brake products for free-fall winch applications represent the cutting edge in construction brake engineering. We offer two brake types, one with a single plate pack, the other with a double plate pack.

Both are spring-loaded brakes which are hydraulically released. The single plate pack product is based on the construction principle of the model series 022, with an additional piston chamber which allows pressure-activated braking.

The double plate pack product has two plate packs with different friction pairings. This allows dynamic braking as well as holding a load while avoiding micro-slippage.

The electromagnetically released, spring applied, dual-surface brake is based on the principle of series 207. This brake is additional equipped with six torque stages, each individually controllable.

The springs are wear-free and can therefore guarantee a secure functioning over the whole lifetime of the brake.
